One of TAG's goals since its inception in 2012 has been to encourage the love of reading within our LHE community. Each year we've chosen a play that originated as a book, obtained copies of that book to use as props for performances, then donated them to our LHE library on behalf of each year's company. Beautifully illustrated copies of Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as well as Bugsy Malone and a collection of 20 over Roald Dahl and Dr. Seuss books commemorating our productions of Willy Wonka Jr. and Seussical Jr. have been donated in hopes that students may enjoy these timeless stories and the love of reading for years to come. In addition, each year TAG donates resource books & scripts to the LHE library to support our school's growing interest in theatre arts. This collection includes over 70 books on acting, auditioning, costume design, and theatre technical skills appropriate for students as well as resources for teachers and parents. TAG has also donated a collection of over 36 DVDs that expose our community to the art of the American musical. All items are available for checkout and may be found in the 700 section of the LHE Library.
Each year TAG donates a framed poster from each of our productions. A hearty collection of vintage tankards, used in our production of Beauty and the Beast Jr., were donated to the 5th grade teachers to be used in their annual Colonial Boston unit. In the 2018-19 school year, two flat screen monitors were procured to create live video feeds backstage at future performances. A custom built drum, made by a LHE parent and used in our production of Peter Pan Jr., and accompanying stand were donated to the music department for the 2017-18 school year. The year previous, TAG donated a framed photo of the 2016-17 student body & staff, which was displayed in our temporary location at John Marshall campus and currently lives in the staff hallway at our permanent location. TAG has invested in a CD player, projectors, microphones, walkie talkies, speakers, music stands, a scrim (backdrop) and other technical equipment to keep reoccurring production costs down, and encourages & supports the use of this equipment for all other events at our school. In the 2014-15 school year, a digital piano in memory of Dr. Frank Bolden, our beloved music teacher, was donated to the music department to benefit our entire school community and share his love of music with future generations of Beavers.
Legacy Gifts are donated with the sincere intent of supporting theatre arts education while benefiting the entire LHE community. All gifts are approved by the LHPTA.
