One of TAG's goals since its inception in 2012 has been to encourage the love of reading within our LHE community. Each year we've chosen a musical that originated as a book, obtained copies of that book to use as props for performances, then donated them to our LHE library on behalf of each year's company. Beautifully illustrated copies of Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as well as Bugsy Malone and a collection of 20 over Roald Dahl and Dr. Seuss books commemorating our productions of Willy Wonka Jr. and Seussical Jr. have been donated so that students may enjoy these timeless stories and the love of reading for years to come.
In addition, each year TAG donates resource books to the LHE library to support our school's growing interest in theatre arts. This collection includes over 65 books on acting, auditioning, costume design, and theatre technical skills appropriate for students as well as resources for teachers and parents. Also included are copies of all of our past scripts and a collection of over 36 DVDs that celebrate and expose our community to the art of the American musical.
All items are available for checkout and may be found in the 700 section in the LHE Library.
After watching Mary Poppins Returns in the theater, Ms. Blangy was inspired by the number “The Cover is not the Book”. She covered classic novels or more dated chapter books and challenged kids to read them without seeing the cover or knowing what they are. They get a book worm and they get to sign the cover if they read it!
