Every Child A Star
Our "Every Child A Star" program reinforces our commitment to each and every company member and to the SPS standards for Equal Educational Opportunities. Our positive character qualities encourage each student to achieve their fullest potential through exposure to theatre arts: Be kind, be thoughtful, be courageous, and "there's no place like home" (i.e. celebrating our school community).
All participants are expected to behave in a respectful and responsible manner to adults and students alike at all Loyal Heights Elementary's Theatre Arts Group (TAG) activities. Rules, expectations, and consequences that apply during school hours apply at all TAG events, regardless of time or location. Registration & Dues
All participating students, either cast or RATs, must register by the deadline through Online Registration. Should a company member decide not to participate in the production within two weeks of Cast Posting, a full refund will be given. No refunds will be given beyond that time as costumes will have already been ordered. Should a student be asked to leave the production for not abiding by the established behavior expectations, no refund will be given. Please contact us if you are interested in available scholarships.
TAG parents/guardians MUST serve at a minimum of five (5) shifts either performing behind-the-scenes service (may be done at home on your own time) or at TAG events (auditions, photoshoot, Super Saturdays or show week events).
Current LHE students in all grades are invited to participate as cast members in the musical production. All participants must register and pay dues, then sign up for an audition call time prior to attending any TAG events through Online Registration. Registering constitutes a family commitment that your child(ren) will attend every TAG event for which they are scheduled and that participating families will volunteer at a minimum of three shifts during show week. Rehearsal Assistant Team (RATs)
Current LHE students in fourth grade or above, who are not in the cast, may participate on the Rehearsal Assistant Team to learn backstage theatre skills. Click here to learn more about this exciting program. Note: All who desire to be RATs must register and pay dues, no audition necessary. Some students from the Rehearsal Assistant Team may be invited to serve as Stage Crew, working in the wings during performances. Stage Crew is by invitation only, registering to be a RAT does not guarantee participation as Stage Crew. Note: There are some Stage Crew responsibilities that contractually must be performed by the BHS Stage Crew.
All current LHE students who desire to be in the cast must register, sign up for an audition time, then audition. Click here to review the Audition Process and the TAG Calendar for dates, times, and locations. We take many thoughtful steps to make the necessary casting element a positive experience for all. Note: Auditions are open events; families are encouraged to attend.
Some students being considered for specific roles may be invited back for callbacks, a second opportunity for the casting team to see them prior to making final casting decisions. Note: Callbacks are by invitation only and will be closed events; only the actors scheduled will be allowed to attend.
All students who audition will be cast in the musical, their roles listed in order of appearance on the Cast Posting page. Each actor is thoughtfully considered and cast in a role in which they are the most suited and best able to shine, based on auditions and, if applicable, callbacks.
Orientation introduces all company members to our script, theatre basics, and our Every Child A Star program. Expectations for behavior will also be discussed. Each company member will receive a CD of the score, if they did not receive one at auditions, and some cast members will receive scripts, as needed.
All weekday rehearsals will be at LHE. Company members may only attend rehearsals for which they are called. After school, company members will enjoy a nut-free snack (brought from home) in the lunchroom, then escorted to rehearsal. Please respect our rehearsal team and fellow company members; attendance for all events for which you are called is expected. Refer to the TAG Calendar for dates, times, and locations. Note: These are open rehearsals; any who wish may attend and must sign in at the school office upon arrival.
There may be several Super Saturday rehearsals for the musical, which provide vital opportunities for the company to run through the production. Not all company members will need to attend each of these rehearsals or for the entire time block. Super Saturday schedules will be posted on the TAG Calendar at least two weeks in advance. Please respect our rehearsal team and fellow company members; Prompt attendance is expected for all company members called. See the TAG Calendarfor dates, times, & locations. Company members will receive a company email via MailChimp each Friday during the TAG season. All company information is also available on our website anytime on our News page. Note: You will not receive company correspondence until you register. Once registered, please check that these emails are not being sent to your 'promotions' or 'junk' folders.
We take photos of the company to provide mementos of your TAG experience and will be used in the program and for promotional purposes. Families will be notified when the photos are available for purchase. Note: This will be a closed photo shoot; No one will be allowed into the photo session except for those being photographed at their scheduled time slot and the scheduled volunteers.
The school assembly is a preview of the musical— a teaser for the rest of the school as well as providing valuable experience for the company to perform for a live audience. Note: This is an open event; Families are welcome to attend.
Show week consists of moving our sets and props to the theater, a series of rehearsals, performances, then strike. It is a busy time for all. Please respect our rehearsal team and fellow company members; Prompt attendance is expected for all company members called. Note: All rehearsals at the theater will be closed; only those scheduled will be allowed to attend.
Each person attending the show (not including lap children under the age of 2) must pay for admission. All ticket sales will be done online. A link to ticket sales will be posted as performance dates approach. Note: LHE families, please contact us if you are interested in available subsidized tickets.
All cast, RATs, alumni, volunteers, and their families are invited to celebrate a job well done with a pot-luck dinner at the school. This promises to be loads of fun and a great way to say "farewell" to our TAG family (sniff, sniff). A link to sign up will be posted on the TAG Calendar.
Secret Guest Stars
Each year we invite someone connected to our LHE community to be our Secret Guest Star(s). Their identities are kept hidden until performances. Who will it be this year???
"Who's Who" Wall
Our "Who's Who" wall presents a photo and short bio of each company member at performances, ensuring that everyone feels special and equally important regardless of their role in the production. Company members are invited to keep their bios after the final performance as a memento of their TAG experience. Adults, if you are interested in leading this effort, please let us know through our Contact page.
Students from each casting group that display exceptional responsibility and respect qualities may be asked to serve as Dance Captains, to maintain a calm and functional environment with cast members at rehearsals and backstage. Those that serve in this capacity are asked to attend a training meeting, will be noted with an asterisk on the Company Posting page and highlighted in the program for their efforts. Our Mentoring Program allows younger students to shadow older ones to learn backstage responsibilities. This is by invitation only, based on ability and behavior at previous TAG events.

Our Alumni Program solidifies our commitment to past TAG members by providing continuing, hands-on theatre arts experiences as well as opportunities to serve as positive role models and mentors for our current cast members. Visit our Alumni page for more information.
All LHE adults are invited to participate on the TAG Team - no prior experience needed. All volunteers must abide by SPS & LHPTA volunteer procedures.
